About Minimally Invasive Surgery

Dr Michelle has expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery including advanced gynaecological laparoscopic surgery and surgical management of endometriosis. Minimally Invasive Surgery also known as Laparoscopy or “Keyhole” Surgery, confers patients advantages of a faster, less painful and more enhanced recovery with better cosmetic results.

Prior to leaving for the private sector, Dr Michelle was a Consultant at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit, Obstetrics and Gynaecology in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore, where she held the role of a Level 3 (advanced laparoscopy) surgical trainer. She has had extensive training and exposure, having completed both local and overseas surgical fellowships in this field.

To date, she has performed more than 800 complex Minimally Invasive Surgical procedures.

Removal of ovarian cysts – Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy

Removal of uterine fibroids – Laparoscopic Myomectomy

Removal of Ectopic Pregnancies - Laparoscopic Salpingotomy or Salpingectomy

Assessment of Chronic Pelvic Pain and resection of adhesions - Diagnostic and Therapeutic Laparoscopy

Removal of uterus for conditions such as multiple fibroids, uterine adenomyosis, endometrial hyperplasia – Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Removal of endometriosis deposits for the treatment of endometriosis-related pain and infertility – Laparoscopic excision of endometriosis and peritoneum

What can I expect for my surgery and how should I prepare for it?

1. Before Surgery: Consultation and Planning

Meet with Dr Michelle to discuss your condition and treatment options. Time will be given for you to make your treatment decision and to have any questions or concerns addressed. You will be advised on pre-operative preparations, the intra-operative procedure and post-operative recovery and expectations.
 

2. The Day of Surgery: Preparation and Procedure

Arrive at the hospital as scheduled. The medical team will guide you through the pre-operative process, ensuring you’re comfortable and well-prepared before the procedure begins.
 

3. Post-Surgery: Recovery and Follow-Up

After the surgery, you’ll receive detailed instructions on how to care for yourself during recovery. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to monitor your progress and ensure a smooth recovery process.
